Haag Foods and Poultry was founded
in 1944 by our grandfather and father team, Edwin R. Haag and
Emil A. Garcia. A year later Ed’s son Bob joined the business
and opened a processing plant, which enabled our company to sell
fresh dressed poultry products. After both of our founders
retired in 1983, Emil’s sons Jack and Phil purchased the
business, bringing fresh ideas and enthusiasm for development
and expansion of product lines and services.
In 1964 we began supplying Kentucky Fried Chicken with their
poultry needs. This marked the beginning of a long lasting
friendship which continues today. Currently we service and
supply these KFC restaurants and all their needs. Currently, we
supply 145 units in several states. In 1987 Haag joined “CODE”,
a network foodservice distributor marketing the CODE family
label of products. This enabled our company to provide full
service distribution of frozen, refrigerated and grocery
products to our customers. From that
time
on, our company has experienced continual expansion. Our
customer base has grown from KFC and now includes Taco Bell,
Sonic Restaurants, Lee’s Famous Recipe, Honey Baked Ham,
Quiznos, Wing Stop Restaurants, and street account business.
Over the years we have increased our facility to 110,000 sq. ft.
of frozen, refrigerated and dry warehousing. We offer a complete
product mix including; poultry which is received fresh daily,
beef, pork, specialty meats, fresh produce, seafood, dairy
products, groceries, canned foods, frozen items, Supplies &
Equipment, paper goods, and chemicals. Haag Foods is located 35
miles east of St. Louis, MO and only minutes from all major
highways. We currently service a 350-mile geographical radius to
nine states in the Midwest, servicing chain and independent
restaurants, delis, grocery stores, government commissaries,
school districts and more. Today, Haag Foods is a member of the
UniPro buying group which harnesses over $58
billion in buying power. This assures you the optimum variety of
product at competitive prices. The UniPro
organization is the nation’s #1 distribution network for the
industry’s leading national brands.
Haag
has invested heavily in state of the art technology to manage
business and operating costs. Retalix computer software is the
most sophisticated in the food service industry today. We’ve
added “Power Warehouse” to our system, enabling us to manage
inventory using scanning guns that transfer all real time data
accurately using wireless technology. This allows us to load our
trucks to the most efficient levels within DOT limits. We
utilize “Xata Satellite Tracking System” to manage our truck
fleet, allowing us to track idle time. delivery times, driver
speeds, transfer data and eliminate driver logs. To route our
trucks we utilize “Road Net”, developed by UPS. This system
cubes out and weighs out our trucks, maximizing our pieces per
route, which facilitates meeting customer delivery time windows.
Purchasing our fuel direct and fueling our equipment from our
own station allows us to book fuel in advance and run Bio Fuel
(a diesel & soy blend) – not only to maximize cost savings, but
it’s our contribution to “GO GREEN”.
We are very proud of
our facility, equipment and, most of all, our dedicated staff of
food service professionals who literally work around the clock
to serve you. Let us provide firsthand our capability to serve
your needs. We have grown over the years because of personal
service. This is our advantage over other suppliers, an
advantage we hope to pass on to you.
